Untangling Blockchain and Cryptocurrency in 2020

Are you interested in learning how blockchain and cryptocurrencies are disrupting financial services?

PRI’s Young Leaders Circle will bring together a panel of industry experts to discuss blockchain and cryptocurrency. Leaders in academic research, private business, and the regulatory space will examine regulations on blockchain and cryptocurrency, benefits and challenges to the emerging technologies, and look at how the two concepts are being adopted around the world in the free market. This event is open to all interest levels: whether you’re completely new to blockchain and cryptocurrencies or regularly follow ICOs and ETFs. Doors open at 6 p.m. at the upper floor of the Neyborly event space on 600 Mason Street in downtown San Francisco. Attendees can expect a happy hour and appetizers, a moderated panel, followed by an audience question and answer session.

Karin Bauer, MBA, PhD, Program Manager, Blockchain Initiative, Haas School of Business, UC Berkeley

Karin is a program manager for the Berkeley Haas Blockchain Initiative, a multi-year, multi-million-dollar partnership aimed at advancing academic research and student engagement, technical development and innovation in blockchain, cryptocurrency, digital payments and financial inclusion. Previously, Karin spent twenty years in marketing and international business development roles with leading technology companies including eBay, Oracle, Broderbund, and GMFanuc Robotics.

 

Tayeba Maktabi, Fintech Policy Advisor, Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco

Tayeba researches and monitors emerging technologies and innovations in payments, cryptocurrencies, and distributed ledger technologies at the San Francisco branch of the Federal Reserve, or SF Fed. She previously served as Senior Policy Analyst in the SF Fed Cash Product Office, researching consumer behavior and market trends in payments, emerging payment technologies, and other factors affecting cash usage and demand.
